NME to reveal new artwork

Apparently Will has sent NME a postcard (haha!) telling them about the future plans for Arcade Fire. A letter you can read in its entirety in this week's NME magazine, in newsstands from March 31. However, the most exciting thing about it all is Will also aparaently sent them new artwork. Weather it's the album artwork or not remains to be seen, but some kind of artwork will be published in the new edition of the mag. Will also wrote they were "still hard at work" on the new album and "We're really looking forward to playing the new songs live", adding that he currently feels "like an inventor emerging from his basement after a year's work".

Can't wait to see what that artwork looks like. Whatever kind of artwork it is. Oh and I feel like I should explain something here. In all likelihood the whole 'premiere new album' thing is just usual NME crappy journalism. What they're trying to say in their own hyperbolic way is that Arcade Fire will play new songs during the Reading and Leeds festivals.

*Edit*
Actually, I think I can fairly safely say the picture/postcard I just added above is the "exclusive artwork" for Arcade Fire's new album NME will reveal in their magazine this week. Another attempt to sell more mags from NME. But it was good this happened, now you all understand just how NME does things. They hyperbole everything they can get their hands on. I learned this the hard way a few years back...

Well doesn't the postcard have writing on it? So we might get an album title, or a little insight of what do except?

Well yeah, Will has written a bit on it (the backside of it I assume), but I wouldn't hold my breath for anything tasty just yet. I'm sure Merge want to make the most of this album release and don't want to give anything away just as casual as that.

The article also said they were hard at work. I mean, now the concept of "May release" seems like a complete joke. I've got my money on a late-July/early August release.

To be fair the whole May release date came up only because Billboard claimed they had reliable sources claiming so. The official word from the band and management has all along been that the album will be out "in the second half of 2010".

I have my money on an August release right now.

Hey, Joel! Could you use your super-powers to find out if Sarah left?

Rumors are starting at the forum already...

I'm taking a closer look at this photo... the icon in the upper left corner looks like a compass, almost.

Could be the new Arcade Fire (AF) logo.

They've stolen the logo from the American Radio Relay League. These radio operators send out specialized postcards to commemorate contacts they make with other radio operators around the world. I wonder if any of the band members are familiar with this - or did they just seize the opportunity to capitalize on other people's designs?

Logo here for ARRL: http://www.qsl.net/aa9ro/arrl_logo.bmp

Compare and wonder.
